Documentation for Quick Print 1.0
---------------------------------
(C) 1989 Darek Mihocka
The Quick Print program and this documentation file may be freely copied
under the condition that neither file is modified in any way.
When the Alt-Help keys are pressed on the ST keyboard, a screen dump
is produced. This scren dump is a graphics dump, and takes anywhere from
a minute to several minutes, depending on the type of printer you have.
I found this inconvenient, especially when using the modem, because at
times I wanted to print the screen but not wait 3 minutes for my Epson
FX-80 to produce the screen dump. Since some BBSs use VT52 and other
emulations, capturing the screen output to disk is useless.
Quick Print is a desk accessory that allows the ST to produce text-only
screen dumps. When it is installed, the entry "Quick Print 1.0" should
appear in the accessory drop down menu. Select it, and choose one of
the two options, "Graphics" or "Text".
The "Graphics" selection chooses the normal graphics dump mode.
The "Text" selection puts the ST into the text only mode. This is similar
to the Print Screen key that many IBM PC keyboards have. A text only
screen dump takes about 10 to 30 seconds.
This is the first release of this program, and so there are probably
many bugs. It has only been tested in monochrome, with both a 25 line
and 50 line display (using FLASH). It should support other line sizes, and
it should work in color. If there are any problems, please let me know.
This program was written using Laser C 2.0 and the Laser DB debugger. I
will convert it to assembler to reduce the size in a later version.
